Enjoy the 2nd installment of the Pep Band Blog brought to you by Cyle.

Hey all you Blue Raider fans. Friday was a free day for the pep band and cheerleaders. We went into San Francisco at 9:00am. There weren’t many people at the beginning, but as the day went on more and more people showed up. Our bus dropped us off at Pier 39. It is an awesome place and a great way to make revenue off of us tourists. People were told that they could do what they wanted. I stuck with my band director and his assistant, and another band member. It was a lot of fun and we got a lot of pictures. (I would post them, but I didn’t bring my camera jack to load them up. Look for them after we get back). My little group decided to eat at the Pier 39 Market. It was really good, but too much food for lunch. After lunch we shopped and we made our way to Pier 33, where the boat for Alcatraz left.

Alcatraz was an awesome experience. Everyone knows about it, but we got more information as we took the tour. There’s a walking audio tour through the Jail House, which is extremely informative and awesome. Throughout the whole trip on Alcatraz Island, there were so many great views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. I would have gone crazy being an inmate, because the narrators told us “It’s close enough to see and want it, but it’s far enough where its out of reach.” You can tell that the weather and ocean has taken its toll on the complex.

After Alcatraz we sent the bus home with 10 people, and the rest of us were going to catch the CalTrain and then another tram to the hotel. We shopped some more then had a great dinner at a great seafood place. We then proceeded to walk around the pier and head up towards the Fisherman’s Wharf. On the way, we smelt the chocolate factory (Ghiridelli). It was cool, because I never knew that company was based out of San Francisco.

After finding our way to the train station, we spent hours navigating down to San Jose. The train was a double-decker and we had a lot of fun messing with the college people down below us. After what seemed like forever, we made it back to our hotel. Saturday we are free till we have to play a pep rally for the Lady Raiders as they head to Stanford for the Big Dance. We really want and need to win Saturday, so the pep band is going to be going crazy. Till next time, CHEERS!!!
