Enjoy continued Blue Raider Zone coverage of the NCAA tournament. Here's a look at the tournament thru the eyes of the MTSU Pep Band.
I just wanted to start by saying that it is great to be blue!!! NCAA time is always confusing because you never know where you’re going to end up, when your going to leave, and how long your going to be there. At the selection show we were very excited to be going to California. After that night it was a rush to get everything in order, but it’s been so worth it. I don’t think we could have a better trip.
As our plane was taxiing to Signature (our departure zone) we were wondering what airline it was (XA = Xtra Air) and laughing, then it came over to pick us up. Our plane was a 737-800 with the Pep band, Cheerleaders, our Lady Raiders, their staff, plus the entire Old Dominion women’s basketball team and staff. Let’s just say it was a very packed flight. After we got to straight and level flight at 30,000 ft., it got a little less tight, and the flight wasn’t too bad. We flew into San Jose and got the busses loaded. The pep band, cheerleaders, and some of the family or staff had to stay in one hotel and the team got to stay in another. It wasn’t the best hotel, but in the morning we played football, and then played putt-putt on the putting green. One of my roommates was sleeping so I decided to wake him up, by throwing a pillow towards him, hitting two lamps before finally hitting him. He then proceeded to throw a 3-inch phonebook at me. Then we left to go to the other hotel where our ladies were staying.
The rest of the day was just to relax and enjoy the California weather. It was 78 and sunny. Half of us ate and then went swimming, while another group went to a big mall and spent too much money. During our pool time, 00- Chelsia Lymon came through. We asked if she was coming in and she was like I got to work. It was weird, because they’re here for business and we get to enjoy it. Maybe the team will get to experience California while they are here. I don’t think you can beat this; we get paid (lots of money) to sit and do nothing. I don’t think I can thank the people enough for making this trip work, but when we get back I will try. For dinner some of us went to Santana Row and ate at Maggiano’s. Then we just had fun in the hotel.
Friday the pep band and cheerleaders are heading into San Francisco. We have lined up a trip to Pier 39, Alcatraz, and the whole bay area. It’s going to be so much fun.
