Led by junior college transfer Amber Holt, the Lady Raiders defeat Old Dominion 86-71.

They perennial powerhouse Old Dominion Monarchs proved to be a tough opponent for the Lady Raiders on Tuesday night. Despite shooting only 32% from the field in the first half the Lady Raiders were able to cling to a one point lead. The second half proved to be the difference as MTSU surged to a 86-71 win. Standout freshman Jackie Pickel provided the spark as she connected on three 3-pointers in five trips down the floor to ignite a Blue Raider run.

Junior college transfer Amber Holt led all scorers with 27 points and Krystal Horton had her best outing of the year, scoring 23 points and grabbing a game-leading 9 rebounds. This duo was assisted by All-American candidate Chrissy Givens who dumped in 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

The Lady Raiders extended their win streak to 6 and have won 9 of their last 10. The only blemish in the streak came at the hands of #4 Tennessee.

Rick Insell's squad will take the floor again on Dec. 27 against Sun Belt Conference rival Western Kentucky. The game is at 7:00 and it will be played in the confines of Murphy Center.
