Boston Bound

The Red Sox nation gets a steal with its first compensation pick.

The Boston Red Sox have selected Blue Raider CF Bryce Brentz with their second pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Brentz was the 36th overall pick in the draft and the fourth pick in the initial compensation round.

Widely touted to be a first round selection, Brentz unexpectedly fell to the historic Red Sox in the compensation round. After a record-setting sophomore season that saw him compete for the Division I triple crown, Brentz took a step for Middle Tennessee back this year due to ankle injury. Still, his step back is a desirable season for most players as he tallied a .348 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI's in 46 games.

Stay tuned to for more on Brentz.
