Breaking News: Burnette quits team

Middle Tennessee head coach Rick Stockstill announced today that backup quarterback Brent Burnette has left the team and will be transferring at the end of the Spring 2010 semester.

Burnette spent 2010 as the backup to Dwight Dasher, appearing in eight games while starting one. Overall he went 13-for-25 and tallied 160 yards and two touchdowns. He also went 2-for-3 for 45 yards and a touchdown in a very impressive drive during the 2009 R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Burnette was one of two quarterbacks signed by Middle Tennessee as a part of their 2008 class. The four-year starter from Maryville, Tenn. was a highly-touted prospect after compiling a perfect 60-0 record in high school.

The Blue Raiders currently have five quarterbacks listed on their roster: returning starter Dwight Dasher, JUCO transfer Logan Kilgore, r-Jr. Andrew Banks, r-Fr. Jamal Ramsey and r-Fr. Spencer Wise.
