MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee safety Kevin Brown was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the leagues media members as announced by the SBC on Monday. It is the first honor for Brown during his three-year career.
The Tampa, Fla., native recorded his first multiple interception game when he picked off two North Texas passes on Saturday to lead the Blue Raider defense. Brown also added six tackles and a pass breakup as the Blue Raiders won their third game in a row.
Brown now leads the Sun Belt Conference with three interceptions and also paces the league in passes defended. The junior now owns five career interceptions.
The Blue Raiders have now picked up four player of the week honors this season and 57 all-time. Under Rick Stockstill, the Blue Raiders have now won 29 player of the week awards.
