Middle Tennessee has been selected to play in the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). The announcement came Monday night after the NCAA tournament announced their field of 64. The Blue Raiders will host Western Carolina on Wednesday, a team they lost to 77-71 on Dec. 2. The time is still to be determined.
The Lady Raiders would have been guaranteed a spot in their 5th consecutive NCAA tournament if they would have won the Sun Belt Championship game against Western Kentucky. Middle Tennessee was considered a "bubble" team prior to the NCAA selection show, but that bubble was burst when the field of 64 was announced.
The Blue Raiders are led by the nations leading scorer Amber Holt and they finished with a 21-11 record. The winner of this match-up will travel to Lexington, KY on Friday to face the University of Kentucky.
