Well my last blog comes to you from the airplane flying back home. So many emotions are going through my head right now, it,s unbelievable. I don’t know whether to be sad because we lost, or happy because of the season we had. I mean it was no doubt a great season, we won our fourth straight sunbelt conference title, we had a 27 game win streak, we were rated the highest we’ve ever been, had a 30 wins, and I could just keep going. I really do believe that we had something. Not a lot of people believed in us, but I did. I said in my posts on blueraiderzone.com that no matter what happened I would walk out with my head held high. I did just that, I had so many emotions going through me, that I had to think of the positive. I wanted to win so badly, not only so we could break more records, but too show America that we deserved to be ranked. So many people were gunning for us, and I guess we just messed up tonight. We didn’t play Middle Tennessee Lady Raider Basketball. I guess we were on another planet somewhere.
During the game, I kept saying to myself that we would come back and win. In my opinion I think the refs blew the game. In the first half they called 10 fouls on us, and only two on them. To me that’s not right. I saw so many fouls, and I’m not even the best spotter of fouls. I know that our girls weren’t on their best game, but it’s just hard, when the refs weren’t helping. I was not watching the same team that played all year. Defeat is a hard thing to overcome, but we need to focus on the future and not the past. What happened at the game will be remembered, but we need to learn from our mistakes and grow. Next year looks so promising with the new recruits coming in. I’m not ready for more basketball right now, but next season will be here before you know it.
There are so many people I want to thank and congratulate. I want to congratulate OUR team for such a successful year. I can honestly say I have never been more PROUD TO BE BLUE in all my life. People would talk bad about us, but I knew we had/have something great; it just stinks that we had to go out the way we did. I want to thank the entire athletic department for all they’ve done with this trip and with this season. We sometimes complain, but they are just doing their job. Specifically I want to thank Coach Rick Insell for all he’s done with the team. We would not be here today if it wasn’t for him. In addition to the KING, I want to thank his staff. They play an extremely important part into making this program work. I would also like to thank Chris Massaro for all the hard work and dedication he puts into these excellent Middle Tennessee athletic programs. If it weren’t for him, half of the stuff we do, and most of the trips we go on, wouldn’t occur. Most of all I want to thank every Blue Raider fan. The fans help bring in the money to pay all these fine people and help get the crowd pumped up. If it weren’t for fans, we would just be another school wishing to be apart of something great. Instead, we are something great and getting better everyday.
Last thought: Some people say that you have to take the good with the bad, and that’s entirely true. People also say that sometimes you have to take one step back to get two steps forward. I hope this is our one step back, and if any team thinks we are weakened by this loss, then they need to think again. We WILL be back next year and we WILL be better than this year. So till next season, this ones to you. Cheers!!!
