Pep Band Blog: Day 3 (Gameday)

In Cyle B.'s blog he shares his NCAA experience from the viewpoint of a MTSU Band member.
Today (Saturday) was AWESOME!!! The band got to sleep in as long as they wanted. After sleeping in, most of us went down and got food. We had to walk, but for cheap food a college kid will do just about anything.
After getting back and having fun, we played a short pep rally as the MTSU Lady Raiders left for
Stanford
. The fight song was played and a couple other of the famous ones that we are known for.
We then got on the bus and headed over to Palo Alto for the game. Of course our bus got there a while in advance, so the pep band and cheerleaders took pictures and just hung out. Stanford’s band was playing and they were good, but just danced around too much to be considered really good. But they were having fun, so I guess that’s all that matters.
While we were watching their band, some of the parents came and gave us Oreo’s, pizza and drinks. They were very friendly and it was a great pre-game atmosphere. Some band members even got a picture with the now famous Mattie Givens, Chrissy Given’s Mom. She was so cheerful and full of spirit.
We eventually got into the stadium, but because of Stanford’s band, we had to sit in the nosebleed section. We felt like we were away from everyone, but I thought we got some good pictures.
For those of you that didn’t know,
Gonzaga
’s band was a high school band. Their real pep band was with the men’s team.
I thought we played pretty well, even though we hadn’t played since the selection show at the Hall of Fame. The game was awesome and even though I didn’t cheer as loud as I could, I was very involved and didn’t let up the entire time.
After our win, we went back to the hotel got more money and then went to get food. I finally ended up at Applebee’s and guess who was there? None other than the Lady Raiders themselves. It was great to see them there and so happy. I was going to go up and say hey, but I thought they wanted to enjoy themselves. Some of the coaches cheered us on and told us good job. We had a lot of fun.
Tomorrow, some people are traveling down to Monterey to sight see and visit the aquarium.
If I haven’t said it enough, it’s great to be blue. It’s great sharing these good times with all you Blue Raider fans. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it now. No matter what happens from here on out, I will walk out of the stadium with my head held high. This team has done great things and will continue to do great things. So once again farewell for tonight and don’t ever forget to BE PROUD, BE LOUD, AND BE BLUE!!!
