Boca Raton- It wasn't pretty, especially in the second half, but #21 Middle Tennessee (14-3, 6-0) built a 41-point lead en route to a 78-48 victory over Florida Atlantic University (4-14, 0-6) in the Oxley Center. MTSU won for the 11th consecutive time, its best win streak since the 1995-1996 season.

Chrissy Givens, the www.BlueRaiderZone.com Player of the Game, hit 10-of-15 from the field to lead all scorers with 23 points. The All America candidate, a senior from Monroe, Louisiana, shot 9-of-10 and tallied all but 4 of her points in the first half.

After leading 18-9 at the 11:00 mark, the Lady Raiders went on a 24-4 run over FAU's Lady Owls in the first half. MT has had a 24-4 run in 3 consecutive contests.

The Lady Raiders led 47-16 at the break, and built that lead to 57-16 at the 16:44 mark of the second half. Gritty FAU scratched and clawed and fought to the end, but could get no closer than 25.

Senior Krystle Horton led MTSU with 8 rebounds and tallied 8 points in the Oxley Center, aptly nicknamed "The Burrow". Horton moved into the top 15 all-time rebounding list for MT, moving ahead of Robin Hendrix (81-82). She also moved to 12th-place all-time on the scoring list, passing Heather Prater (93-96).

Junior Amber Holt, of Duluth's (GA) Meadowcreek High School, played just 23 minutes and scored 14 points, to go along with 5 steals. She was fouled hard and left the game early in the second half.

Freshman Chelsia Lymon of Georgetown, KY, nailed two treys and chipped in 8 points. Frosh Johnna Abney of Mt. Vernon's (KY) Rockcastle High School had 5 assists and 4 steals.

Middle had a rough night behind the arc, hitting just 6-of-25. Jackie Pickel had two treys and Brandi Brown garnered one. The Lady Raiders forced 35 Lady Owl turnovers.

Listening to the radio broadcast, the Blue Raider fans sounded loud and boisterous. Rumor has it that Mattie Givens, mother of Chrissy, could be heard above the crowd.

Florida Atlantic, which lost to LSU in last year's NCAA Tournament first round,  was the 2005-2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Champion. The Lady Owls are in their initial year of competition in the Sun Belt Conference.

They were led by Brittney Crenshaw's 10 points and 9 rebounds. FAU's bench outscored MTSU 30-21.

Middle Tennessee wraps up its 3-game road trip at the University of New Orleans (2-5, 7-11) at 11 am on Saturday, part of a double-header with the men. The game was moved up due to the New Orleans Saints playoff game played later that day. FAU hosts Louisiana-Monroe (12-5, 2-4) on Saturday.
