Prior to the Florida Atlantic game Blue Raider Coach Kermit Davis was very
vocal about wanting to see increased production from his guards. Point guard
Kevin Kanaskie must have heard the message. He responded with 19 points and 12
assists as MTSU reeled off their 3rd straight conference win, beating the Owls
72-68 in front of 1,004.
Senior Kyle Young had another stellar game collecting 13 points, 5 rebounds,
and 2 blocks.
The Blue Raiders jumped out to an early 9-2 lead but they couldn't sustain
the momentum as they trailed 32-29 at the half. The Blue Raiders came out of the
locker room in the second half and scorched the nets, hitting over 68% of
their shots. It was a combination of hot shooting and the Owls struggling from
the free throw line that led to the win for Middle Tennessee. The Owls were only
able to connect on 57% of their free throws.
The Blue Raiders move to 3-3 in the Sun Belt this season. The loss dropped
FAU to 3-3 as well.
The Blue Raiders will next be in action on Saturday at New Orleans as they
attempt to continue a perfect road record in the conference.
