Lafayette, La.- UL QB Terrance Broadway led the Cajun's offense to 14 points in the final 2:43 to erase a 10-point deficit and come from behind for a 31-27 win over Western Kentucky at Cajun Field Saturday night.
After WKU took a 27-17 lead with six minutes remaining, UL was able to march 72 yards in 11 plays. After a holding penalty against WKU on fourth down kept the drive alive near midfield, the Cajuns were able to finish the drive and get an four-yard scoring pass from
Terrance Broadway
to
Jamal Robinson

WKU recovered an on-sides kick, but was stopped short on a third-and-three play, and forced to punt the ball back to the Cajuns with 1:32 remaining. Starting at its own seven, UL was able to go 93 yards in just eight plays, eating up 54 seconds off the clock. Broadway capped off the drive with a 14-yard scoring run to put the Cajuns in front 31-27 with 38 seconds left.
The Hilltoppers had one last chance, getting the ball to the Cajun 35 with eight seconds left, but a hail mary pass was ruled out of bounds on the final play as Louisiana held on for the win.
Broadway finished with a career-high 145 yards rushing on 14 carries and completed 23-of-33 passes for 258 yards.
Alonzo Harris
added 104 yards on 10 carries to give UL a pair of 100-yard rushers for the first time since Tyrell Fenroy (297 yards) and Michael Desormeaux (149) accomplished it vs. UL on Oct. 4, 2008.
Freshman
Torrey Pierce
rushed four times for 68 yards, including touchdown runs of 18 and 15 yards, as the Cajuns rushed for a season-high 324 yards and three touchdowns as a team.
Western Kentucky
's
Antonio Andrews

Post Game Quotes from Coach Hudspeth
Opening Statement:
“I thought our football team is finding its stride. I think it was evident tonight that we’re doing a lot of good things. As the game went along, offensively I thought this was our best offensive game of the year, minus the turnovers. We stopped ourselves with some critical turnovers especially the one that we turned over right after the onside kick. We could have gone up two scores to get the momentum, and then they went down the field and took the lead. If we can take care the football, we’ll win a lot of games. That’s the first game we have won this year where we lost the turnover battle. Defensively, we put our defense into bad positions with the turnovers. They came up with some big stops against a team that is very good at running the football, especially at the end to secure the win. Broadway had another phenomenal night minus the one interception. Pierce ran strong and made some big plays. Fans were loud, big atmosphere.”
On revenge vs. WKU:
“It was big. They have a really great football team, but it was a big win for us because they broke our streak last year. It was the plan all year to pull out the black uniforms for the Western Kentucky game, and I think it fired the players and fans up.”
On final drive:
“We kicked the onside kick because we had to have a three and out regardless. Once we got the ball we only needed a field goal, but we had such momentum and made some big plays. It was phenomenal.”
On turnovers, adversity:
“We are hitting our stride and we have had a little movement on our team. This team has grown a little closer over the last few weeks and you can really see the leadership in the practices and workouts.”
