Introducing Alexandro Antoine

Only 21 miles of interestate separate Murfreesboro and Antioch, Tenn. While the distance wasn't the deciding factor in the recent decision of Antioch athlete Alexandro Antoine, it certainly didn't hurt. The future Blue Raider sat down with BlueRaiderZone recently to discuss his commitment.

Alexandro Antoine Profile

"It's close to home and all, but they just have great coaches," says Antoine of his future collegiate home. "My parents will be able to come and watch me play. It's just perfect."

Being a local product, Antoine was familiar with the Blue Raider program prior to being recruited this season.

"I thought they were pretty good," Antoine says of his previous knowledge of Middle Tennessee. "Last year they had a pretty good season and that had a pretty big effect on my decision."

Despite his enthusiasm surrounding the Blue Raiders recent success, Antoine maintains that it was a culmination of things that ultimately led him to commit to Rick Stockstill's program. Among the big hitters that stuck out to him were the program's growing tradition of success, the coaching staff and the proximity to home.

Blue Raider fans should be excited to see what Antoine has to offer the defense in the upcoming years. At 6-2, 225 he's an impressive athlete. The question that remains to be answered, however, is where he fits in in Middle Tennessee's aggressive defense.

"It depends on how much weight I gain to see if I'm going to play defensive end or linebacker," he says. "They're pretty sure I'm going to redshirt. If they redshirt me, that's alright. I'll get more experience and get bigger."

When asked if he had a preference between the two, Antoine was quick to answer.

"Defensive end," he laughs. "I love rushing the passer. My speed off the edge is one of my biggest strengths."

While he's got a while before he arrives on campus, Antoine plans to embrace his Blue Raider-dom early. He informed BRZ that he's currently in the process of planning a watching party for Middle Tennessee's upcoming bowl game against Miami (Ohio) for his friends and family.
